Please read through the report and write your one page take on it. Your discussion can be critical, suggestion, or your expression. This is a really good article! The pandemic has given us a lot of incentives for social change. Just express yourself in your own words. Also, do check these articles. It's a very different topic from our Chem 121, but an eye opener. https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2021/04/studies-detail-large-covid-outbreaks-us-prisons-jails (Links to an external site.) https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/research-reports/reducing-jail-and-prison-populations-during-covid-19-pandemic (Links to an external site.) https://time.com/5924211/coronavirus-outbreaks-prisons-jails-vaccines/ (Links to an external site.) https://patch.com/washington/seattle/coronavirus-surges-wa-prisons-advocates-call-action (Links to an external site.) You can choose to mix them when you write your blog:-) *** It's an essay, so make sure its descriptive and covers all the aspects in your opinion. How long- maybe two pages or more?? I leave that part to you. I always like to do an out of the box assignment related to climate justice, climate change or some current relevant topics. It's fun to break away from traditional chemistry yet learn! Thanks, Shraddha PreviousNext

When reading the COVID-19, Decarceration, and the Role of Clinicians, Health Systems, and Payers A Report From the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine report, it didn’t surprise me that so many incarcerated citizens' healthcare rights are jeopardized as soon as they step foot in a jail cell. I think it’s important to read this article because it not only offers the statistics of how these rights are taken away but it’s educational for those who don’t know the truth about this topic. In this article it tells us how 90 of the largest 100 cluster outbreaks of COVID-19 in the U.S. were in prisons and jails. That to me is absolutely insane, not because I'm surprised, but because even when knowing that, incarnated citizens are still denied their healthcare rights.
